The Wokingham Borough LCWIP Consultation is Now Live!

We want to make it easier for you to walk and cycle around the Wokingham borough, in line with the Government's goal of making active travel the natural choice for short journeys - and in early 2021, you kindly shared your thoughts with us on the things that can make this difficult.

Now we'd love to hear your views again as we enter the next stage of preparing our Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP). This strategic document looks at how you're currently travelling so we can work out the best places to improve paths and other infrastructure, ideally over the next 10 years.

This time, we're asking what you think about our proposed cycling and walking network plans and the improvements that might be needed to make these key routes safer and more convenient.

The finished plan will be completed in the autumn but will always be open to updates and new ideas. It will outline the most popular active travel routes and propose specific measures in places where the community wants them, subject to funding and further public consultation.

These could include better footways, crossings or bridleways, creating “school streets” with restrictions on vehicle movements at drop-off and pick-up times, or addressing the impact of through-traffic in neighbourhoods through steps like new road layouts and reduced speed limits.

To view proposals for each area, visit our consultation page at https://wokinghamboroughlcwip.commonplace.is which is accepting comments until Friday, 19 August.
